Should the West give Reparations to Africans for slavery?

As you may know, on August 1st 2015 the reparations march took place in London, United Kingdom. Thousands of people of African and Caribbean descent marched across the streets of London from Windrush Square right through to 10 Downing Street to demand justice for the effects that the transatlantic slave trade has had on our people over generations.

One of the interesting things about the so called abolition of slavery is that where the slave owners in Britain were paid off to let go of their slaves, our ancestors received nothing. A lot of us were given no land, no livestock, no resources to start our businesses - nothing. In contrast, Germany has paid billions back to Jewish people in reparations since the 1950's, but Great Britain says that we must look to the future to see what we can do to resolve the issue rather than paying reparations for something that happened generations ago.

In the video below, you see Esther Standford discussing the issue with other members of the audience on BBC's 'The Big Questions' TV show.

Now, we can clearly see that there are many points of view, but Esther relentless refutes any historical claims which she believes are not accurate or falsify history and states the facts, and that's what it should always boil down to. The facts.

What do you think of the situations? Should we demand reparations and should Britain and other European Countries be made to pay them? If not reparations, then what will Britain do to rectify the wrong doings of the nation towards our people? What can we do to ensure that we empower ourselves and stop any such thing from happening again?
